Geography Field Trip - 25th of September 2015
Climate Change

We first went to Llanrwst to ask the people in the town our questionnaire; although it was quite early in the morning, and most people were at work we got quite a few altogether.

Most of the people were more than happy to answer the questionnaire but there were a few who said no. The majority of the people who answered our questionnaire were over the age of 23, and were more than happy to be asked. As we filled in questionnaire we found out that all of the people thought that global warming was happening and that they had contributed to it in a small way - click here to read more

Trip gwaith maes Daearyddiaeth – Plas Tan y Bwlch (English translation coming soon)
Trip gwaith maes Daearyddiaeth Trip gwaith maes Daearyddiaeth

Ar ddechrau mis Mawrth , bu criw ohonom o’r chweched ddosbarth yn ddigon lwcus i fynd a’r trip gyda’r adran Daearyddiaeth i Blas Tan y Bwlch, ger Maentwrog. Roeddem yno i ddysgu a gwneud gwaith maes, astudio dalgylch afon Glaslyn oedd gwaith ein diwrnod cyntaf, ac yna astudio pentrefi gwledig ar ein hail ddiwrnod.

Wedi i ni gyrraedd y Plas, cawsom groeso cynnes gan bawb. Roedd criw o Ysgol y Berwyn gyda ni, yn ogystal â phedwar o Ysgol Bro Hyddgen. Yna, aeth pawb ar y bws mini er mwyn mynd draw at yr afon.

Er mwyn casglu’r data, cawsom ein gwanhau i grwpiau, a’n cymysgu, fel ein bod yn gweithio gyda phobl newydd. Roedd pedwar grŵp, a phob grŵp gyda un safle i wneud gwaith. Cawsom offer i ofalu amdano, a chyfarwyddiadau ynghlyn a’i ddefnyddio gan Angharad Harris, Swyddog Addysg Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri. Aethom ymlaen i gasglu’r data drwy fesur arllwysiad y dŵr, maint a siâp y cerrig o wely’r afon, y dyfnder a’i lled ac yn olaf graddiant. Ar ôl mesur yr afon, aeth y bws mini a ni i Gwm Dyli ac yna i Feddgelert. Erbyn hyn, roedd pawb yn wlyb domen gan ei bod hi’n bwrw glaw ac yn barod i fynd yn nol i’r Plas.

Wedi cael newid o’r dillad gwlyb, cawsom fwyd arbennig o dda yn y Plas. Roedd angen gwneud swm enfawr o waith dadansoddi a chyfrifo ein gwaith afon, cyn cael mynd i ymlacio yn y lolfa. Roedd rhaid i ni ganolbwyntio, gan bod y gwaith yn cynnwys graffiau o bob math.

Ar ôl noson wych o gwsg, a brecwast blasus, roedd hi’n amser dechrau ar y ail dasg sef ymweld â’r pentrefi Maentwrog, Gellilydan a Thrawsfynydd er mwyn casglu ein data. Yn y pentrefi yma, roeddem yn cymharu pa mor wledig yr oeddynt yn sgorio o 0 i 5 ar wahanol rinweddau’r pentrefi , megis ei stad amaethyddol, y gwasanaethau oedd ar gael a’r nifer o nwyddau lleol a welwyd yn adeiladau’r pentrefi. Roedd yn ddiddorol dros ben wrth i ni ddysgu am gymeriad y pentrefi yma.

I gwblhau, roedd rhaid cymharu, dadansoddi a mynd dros ein gwaith. Roedd hi’n ddiddorol gweld beth oedd barn pawb am ba mor wledig oedd pentrefi. Wedi llenwi ein boliau gyda chinio bendigedig, roedd hi’n amser ei throi hi ôl tua’r ysgol.

Mi fydd y trip yma yn help mawr i ni, wrth iddo ein helpu tuag at yr arholiad. Roeddwn i a’r criw yn sicr wedi mwynhau ein hunain. Hoffwn ddiolch i Mr Carwyn Williams, Pennaeth Adran Daearyddiaeth am drefnu’r trip, i Mrs Pierce am ein cludo yno, ac i Blas Tan y Bwlch am y llety gwych a’r croeso cynnes.

Gan Heledd Williams 12H

Bethesda Trip 2016
chwarel chwarel

As part of our A Level Welsh course, our class travelled to Bethesda to meet the author, John Elwyn Hughes, who was a good friend of Caradog Prichard, author of ‘Un Nos Ola Leuad’, the novel that we’ve been studying. J. Elwyn Hughes took us on a fascinating journey around the village and showed us many locations that appear in the novel ‘UNOL’. We began our journey on foot, walking along Bethesda High Street, and saw the Blue Bell, Rheinws, Capel Bethesda and many more buildings found in the novel. Then we boarded a minibus to visit places that greatly influenced Caradog Prichard when he was writing the novel, e.g. the coalhouse in which he was locked by his mother. We also went along Lon Bost which is often referred to in the novel, and briefly visited the football pitch where the momentous game is played in the novel. We were also lucky enough to be given permission to visit Penrhyn Quarry where Caradog Prichard’s father died. We saw many of the locations that the boy in the novel attended, such as Ysgol Glanogwen (Rysgol), Glan Ogwen Church (Reglwys) and the homes in which C.P. lived. Before leaving, we were taken by J. Elwyn Hughes to the graveyard where Caradog Prichard and his wife, Mati, are buried. He showed us the graves of other famous people from the area, such as R. Williams Parry. We had a very interesting and useful day that increased our understanding and brought the novel to life, preparing us for the oral examination.

2012 Sixth Form Visit Bethesda

Ar ddydd Gwener, 24ain o Chwefror aeth criw o fyfyrwyr safon uwch cymraeg ar ymweliad i Fethesda sef pentref genedigol Caradog Prichard. Fel rhan o’r cwrs safon uwch mae’n ofynnol i ni astudio nofel, a’r nofel rydym yn ei hastudio yw Un Nos Ola Leuad gan Caradog Pritchard. Mae llawer yn honni fod tebygrwydd rhwng y cymeriadau a’r lleoedd yn y nofel â’r rhai ym mhentref Bethesda, a chawsom wybod mwy am hyn gan J.Elwyn Hughes, sy’n arbenigwr ar y nofel a’i hanes.

6ed dosbarth a J Elwyn Hughes

Pan gyrhaeddon ni Fethesda, fe gwrddon ni â J. Elwyn Hughes ac yna fe ddaeth i ymuno â ni ar y bws mini. Dechreuodd y daith wrth i ni fynd drfwy stryd fawr Bethesad ac roedd J. Elwyn Hughes yn rhoi hanes a chefndir y lleodd yma i ni, rhai o’r lleoedd ar y stryd fawr a oedd yn gysylltiedig â’r nofel oedd yn Rheinws, Blw Bel, Allt Pen y Bryn a’r Victoria.

Yna aethom i chwarel y Penrhyn, sef y man ble llawddyd Tad Caradog Prichard tra’n gweithio yn y chwarel. Aethom heibio i’r Lon Bost sydd yn cael ei chrybwyllsawl gwaith yn y nofel ac hefyd aethom hebio’r Ficarej. Wedi i ni glywed hanesion am y cymeriadau roedd Caradog Prichard yn eu henwi yn y nofel, er nad oedd eu henwau yr union yr un fath â’r rhai iawn, dangosodd J.Elwyn Hughes i nib le ganes yr awdur, â’rholl dai eraill y bu’n byw ynddynt tra’n byw ym Methesda.

I orffen y daith aethom i Eglwys Goffa Robertson ble mae Caradog Prichard wedi cael ei roi i orffwys ac yna aethom i Fynwent Coetmor ble mae enwogion tebyg i R. Lloyd Jones, R. Williams Parry a J. O Williams yn gorffwys.

Cawsom diwrnod addysgiadol iawn, ac hi’n braf gallu gweld lleoedd yng nghyd destyn y nofel gan ei fod yn ei wneud yn fwy byw. Mae’r ymweliad yma yn un sydd yn mynd i aros yn y cof am byth a bydd o fudd mawr i ni wrth sefyll ein harholiad llafar ym mis Mai.
