Rachel Johncock – Year 13 Representing Great Britain U20
Rachel Johncock

Rachel Johncock of Year 12 and currently studying A2 Physical Education recently opened up her 2012 season with a steady 12.16 clocking in the 100m. Rachel was selected to represent Great Britain U20 at a meeting in Loughborough on Sunday, May 20th 2012.

She clocked 11.94secs into a 2.0mph headwind! Beating other high calibre athletes and placing second to Desiree Henry (P.B 11.51secs) who ran 11.91secs.

It is only a matter of time now before Rachel improves on her PB of 11.98secs.

Rachel was ranked 36th in the UK as a senior in 2012, and 10th as a junior. With her recent performance she has shown that she is more than capable of being amongst the top 3-4 juniors and being amongst the top 20 female sprinters in the country as a senior.

As a PE department we are extremely proud of Rachel, and wish her all the very best in the Olympic Trials.

Year 11 Football
Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy vs Ysgol y Creuddyn 7/03/2012

1. Declan Bailey 2. Ellis Payne-Evans 3. Callum Jones 4. Stuart Hughes 5. Lewis Dallimore 6. Liam Hull 7. Louis Jones 8. Daniel Jones 9. Steffan Horan
10. Nye Roberts 11. Thomas Casey 12. Lance Montaigue 13. Connor Egelstaff-Thomas

A very close and competitive match in which the team can take great pride. This was a positive performance with the team trying to play good football on a heavy pitch and against a strong combative side including some excellent players. Nye Roberts and Thomas Casey shone in the first half combining well on numerous occasions and Thomas clearly had the beating of his opponent. The team created numerous openings in the first half but were unable to get shots in at goal to really put the Creuddyn defence and goal-keeper under pressure. With the score at 0-0 at half time the team looked to go for the win and changed formation to be a bit more adventurous. The more adventurous formation did not cause the outstanding central defensive partnership any additional problems as Lewis Dallimore and Liam Hull battled hard and were the teams two best performers on the day alongside Casey and Roberts. Again a lack of cutting edge in the final third saw the team struggle to score and were eventually punished by a real sucker-punch against the run of play and on the counter attack. The Creuddyn striker raced clear slotted powerfully underneath Declan Bailey who had performed well and made everything fired at him look easy. Although a defeat the team played well and can take many positives from it.
Da iawn.

Girls -16’s Football
Ysgol Y Berwyn 0 – 0 Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy

Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy took a journey to Ysgol Y Berwyn in Bala on the 6th of March to play football. Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy managed to win by a goal from Emily Watson in the second half.
Both teams were evenly matched in the first half, and many attempts at goal were made, but a lack of accuracy meant both teams failed to score.
I n the second half saw Dyffryn Conwy dominating after a slight change in our formation which meant that our defence were stronger and the Berwyn side failed to create chances. A mistake by the home team from a corner allowed Dyffryn Conwy to score.
